Nasa calls time on silent Opportunity Mars rover


- Summary


The six-wheeled robot last contacted Earth in June last year, just before it was enveloped in the darkness of a global dust storm.
Engineers hoped Oppy would power back up when the skies cleared and sunlight hit its solar panels again - but there has not been a peep out of the rover.
The routine prompt commands that have been sent to Opportunity will now end. The mission has been declared over.

- Commmentary

I chose this new because it surprised me that one thing that is been designed to last for about 90 days have last for about 15 years, providing vital data from mars.
The mars exploration is a topic that always have interested me, this robot was the first or one of the firsts robots that I followed and get informed of.
The robot landed in Mars in January 2004 with the goal of investigating whether the planet and the conditions necessary to support life. And in total it has been recollecting data for 45 km what is a record.
I think that is a great achievement and it gets bigger when you know that the USA government spends 25 times more dollars in military than in NASA, and the Military cost is 575.000 million dollars, you get the idea.
In my opinion if the governments of all around the world start investing their money in science and not in killing themselves the world would be a better place to live.

Esto incluye a especímenes vivos de especies extintas, como algunos dinosaurios, animales que carecen de evidencia pero aparecen en mitos y leyendas, como Piegrande, el Chupacabras o el Monstruo del lago Ness; y animales salvajes lejos de sus zonas geográficas, como gatos fantasma. La criptozoología no es una rama reconocida de la zooligía ni de ninguna otra disciplina científica. Es un ejemplo de pseudociencia debido a que confía fuertemente en pruebas anecdóticas, relatos y supuestos avistamientos.

Hallan animales bajo un kilómetro de hielo en la Antártida - Resumen El equipo de científicos que ha perforado un kilómetro de hielo sobre el lago Mercer, a 600 kilómetros del polo sur, en la Antártida. Los investigadores hicieron este descubrimiento cuando examinaron algunos sedimentos situados bajo el lago. Allí encontraron restos de algas que vivieron hace millones de años cuando la Antártida era mucho más cálida y de animales mucho más recientes. THE BONOBAS HELP THEIR CHILDREN TO FLIRT SUMMARY Most mothers of mammals take care of their children until they reach adulthood, when they become detached from them or become independent. But with the bonobas the concern goes further; they take care that their children mate, even stopping the attemps of other males. Bonobo moms are capable of everything for make their children parents. When their childs try to mate and another males prevent it, mothers chase away these males. After several years of observing four groups of bonobos that inhabit the "Congolese jungles, the authors of the study found that where the mother is present, adult children are up to 3,14 times more likely to be parents than other males. However, the bonobas do not do the same with their daughters. Despite several years of investigation, the scientists didn't detect behaviours that facilitate their mating.
