THE BONOBAS HELP THEIR CHILDREN TO FLIRT SUMMARY Most mothers of mammals take care of their children until they reach adulthood, when they become detached from them or become independent. But with the bonobas the concern goes further; they take care that their children mate, even stopping the attemps of other males. Bonobo moms are capable of everything for make their children parents. When their childs try to mate and another males prevent it, mothers chase away these males. After several years of observing four groups of bonobos that inhabit the "Congolese jungles, the authors of the study found that where the mother is present, adult children are up to 3,14 times more likely to be parents than other males. However, the bonobas do not do the same with their daughters. Despite several years of investigation, the scientists didn't detect behaviours that facilitate their mating.
